Body Therapy

Recognising that 'The body remembers' trauma, my psychotherapeutic work often comes across 'locked in' or 'embodied traumas' that can get stuck, sometimes in habitual ways of holding or moving the body.  Consequently, there are times in my work when I might recommend that the nervous system and/or the body would benefit from some extra help. This might entail work with your ability to self regulate or co regulate emotions but also might involve  manipulation or a deep dive into the felt sense. I have an established practice of working alongside Nikhila, Body Therapist as I have, for a long time, recognised the need to have body therapy alongside psychotherapy when we are going through difficult life transitions.

Body therapy is a Holistic form of massage and healing.

It combines dialogue and massage to bring compassionate embodied awareness to the emotion, psychology and physiology. It is an excellent accompaniment to my work.

Nikhila also works with how our psychology and physiology interact. She will also visit the subjects of; your life, past experiences, traumas, formative experiences and beliefs but her primary mode is through healing touch.

Nikhila  and I work in the same Workshop, in Bowden House, Totnes and there can be a collaborative element to our work with your body/mind difficulties.

Testimonials

I Like to highly recommend… If you are considering a massage that helps your body to repair and at the same time wish for deep connection and relaxation within – book your treatment session with Nikhila now ? I was looking for a practitioner offering deep bodywork and massage with an holistic approach after having been diagnosed with Morton’s Neuroma in my right foot and and suffering from aches and pains in both feet. At the end of podiatry treatments, exercises, custom prescribed in-soles and ultra sound the only thing offered at the hospital were steroid injections. I did not want those and was looking for alternatives. Nikhila was recommended to me and I started going to massages with her. In a short time and with suggested set off treatment sessions by her the pain lessened, then disappeared and has not returned to this day. I am utterly grateful for receiving her massages as this condition was impacting on all my daily activities and so very painful. What a relief! And of course the utterly wonderful relaxation after a whole body massage is reason alone if a reason is needed. A year later I had a serious ankle fracture needing an operation, various casts and prescribed physio treatment. Through my previous experience I felt a sense of trust in Nikhila and her abilities. I started sessions with her for the long-term rehabilitation for my broken ankle. While still in casts and later over the following months I found her gentle approach working with the stress response and vulnerability during a long term rehabilitation was so very supportive. It felt to me that it made all the difference and helped tremendously with the healing process. What a gift *  Deeply thankfulSiggi March 2023

I am so glad I booked an intuitive massage with dear Nikhila. She has such a beautiful gentle unique nature and very healing powerful hands. I really enjoyed her use of primal voice toning during the session as it really encouraged me to do the same and I felt transformed afterwards, much lighter and like a lot of stagnant energy had been released out of my body. The heated massage table was very welcome and I felt safe to express my self and held throughout. I look forward to our next session in a few weeks. Highly recommended! -Lea-
